We spent most of Wednesday geocaching around the area. There were several that required a pretty good hike up the washes but the views were worth it. We only found 4 caches but by the time we were done we were exhausted.
Most of the caches were close to the campground. Here are a few pictures once we climbed the hills
The campground is down at the base of the far hill
Finding caches in the desert is easier than back east once you get to the coordinates. You don’t have to worry about looking up, and most of them are just in a rock pile like this one next to the bush.
Desert in all directions
Max resting as I scrambled up to get the cache
The solitude is awesome
After several hours of hiking finding the caches we were pretty well exhausted. I did find time to go “wheelin” in a Jeep in the campground though.
We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing. The Kokopelli spirits here in the desert got ahold of Max and she made this pouch necklace. Pretty cool!
It is our last day here at Rainbow Basin and we are going to drive into Barstow and have lunch and check the town out a little. Tomorrow we will head out to Lake Meade and see if there is any water left in the lake. Until then….
Enjoy Your Day!

Idle Spurs is a great old restaurant. Betting Lake Meade is pretty low. Finally getting rain today here in Monterey.
