Downsizing and Planning

Maxine and I are now at the early stages of completing our plan to live and travel full time in our RV. We decided to put the house up for sale in December and it sold the first week on the market. We had expected it to take a little more time than that in this market but it sold very fast.

Our plan for now is to move to an apartment until spring and then to our RV for the summer and fall. We needed to downsize 34 years worth of stuff that can eventually be put into an RV. We need to have a little more furniture for now due to the fact we are going to be in an apartment off and on until Max retires. So we need to keep it light so we can move everything ourselves.

So we kept some small chairs and a queen bed and basically sold everything else or gave things to the boy's. It was a little bit emotional watching all of your stuff get carted off. We sold everything in about 8 hours. We just keep in mind the bigger picture. This is just stuff and our goal is to see and do stuff instead of accumulating stuff.

We closed on the house on Jan 25th and moved to the apartment on Feb 12th.
We were going to use a friends enclosed trailer and our truck to move what little we needed for the apartment. The day before we moved, Max hit some Ice on the way to work and spun around and went into a ditch and hit a tree. Thankfully she was not hurt (but badly shaken up). The truck does not look like it is going to survive. I am waiting on the insurance to let me know.

We ended up renting a U-Haul truck to complete the move. It did not take long and we are now apartment dwellers until early spring then we will move to the RV at the lake.

So for now we will continue to work for the near future and will soon start the process of looking for a Truck and RV that we will travel with. This is when the real fun will begin.
