Coffee Emergency

I love my morning coffee. Do I need my morning coffee? Well that depends. If I absolutely have no way of getting any, then I can man up and get through the morning until my A.D.D. kicks in and gets me distracted. But if there is any close by, then yes, I have to have it.

I am a simple man and my coffee does not need to be complex. A simple machine works great for me. The coffee maker I have is really a piece of junk, and I have been stating that fact for over a year. It leaks every time I pour a cup. Max has had to listen to me complain about this machine for a long time. Sorry for the drama babe!

Well, Sunday night as I was cleaning up the mess it made after pouring the water from the carafe into the holding tank, I told Max that I was just going to half to replace this stupid machine. I have put up with it for just too long. I would have done it sooner but I guess I am just cheap. I hated to throw away something that still worked.

After setting the machine to automatic I went to bed. Monday morning I woke up about 7:00am to a nice steady rain. I was looking forward to my normal “Coffee Time” and my reading of the blogs that I follow.

The first thing I noticed was that there was no coffee aroma in the rig. I thought that maybe I did not get the machine set right. I checked it and the “On Light” was on. I turned the machine off and manually turned it back on. Nothing happened. I also unplugged it and plugged it back in, still nothing happened. After countless tries I determined that the blasted thing was dead.

Now I am trying to read my morning blogs with no coffee and trying to keep my grumblings low enough so that I do not wake Max. I thought about just boiling water and pouring it into the filter and coffee. I nixed that idea because I am too lazy to have to wash the pan that I boiled the water in. Which reminds me, does one have to wash a pan that you only boiled water in?

Anyway, I remembered that there is a campground store/gas station at the entrance to the campground. I can just go down there and get me a large cup or two and bring back to the rig. I decided to brave the rain and go get me some. I fished some money out of our coin jar and got my truck keys and went out to the truck.

It was raining hard enough that I got pretty wet getting to the truck. Once inside, I remembered that I was going to have to have the gate barcode pass to swipe to get back into the park. It was inside the compartment on the motorcycle, which was covered up with the rain cover. Now I had to get out of the truck and get the motorcycle uncovered enough to get to the compartment. By the time I retrieved the pass I was soaked even more.

Finally, I was able to drive up to the campground store/gas station to get my coffee. I got out of the truck and went to the front door only to discover that it was closed on Mondays. Sheesh!

There was no place else close by, so I went on back to the rig and was going to do the boiling water routine. But after getting back, Max was getting up and I thought that maybe breakfast out was in order. I asked Max if she wanted to go out for breakfast. She readily agreed and then I told her we would have to drive about 18 miles to the closest town where I can get a new coffee machine…I mean breakfast.

We found breakfast a little closer at a McDonalds and a Walmart a little further ( Handy Huh!) where I was able to get a new machine. I was a happy camper again. I am just glad we were not boondocking out in the desert. I would not really like to test it to see if I really need coffee or just want coffee.

It rained off and on all day. We were able to get out for a quick bike ride through the park. Here are a few pictures of the small lakes. You do not need a fishing license here and if it ever quits raining enough for me to get a line out, I will try my luck.

Hi
It is coming along slowly, still black and blue and I limp around like an old man. Hope you both are doing well and avoiding all the storms. We are getting ready for another one. I am glad we have life jackets on board :>)
Hugs
