Menifee California & A Little Pickle

Last Monday we made the 70 mile drive to Menifee California. We are at the Thousand Trails Wilderness Lakes Resort. The sites here are a little easier to back into than Palm Springs, and are spaced a little bit farther apart.

There are numerous canals throughout the park that are home to some really big catfish, ducks, geese, coots and a few other really pretty birds.

We have not done any sightseeing in the area as yet. The weather has been very nice with the daytime highs around 70 to 75 and the lows at night at about 40. It is suppose to cool off for this weekend.

In the mornings I have been going up to play “Pickleball”. It is a game played on a converted tennis court. It is really good exercise and is so much fun. I am a beginner, and I have to really improve my game to get competitive with the others, too many racquetball habits to break. Most of the players pick what campgrounds they go to based on if they have a Pickleball court or not. It is a very addicting game.

We have spent the last few nights playing “Pegs and Jokers” which is a card/board game at the lodge. It is a great way to meet other RVers and learn about what is in the area to go and see.

Today, we are going to ride the motorcycle back to Palm Springs to get our mail. I did not look at the calendar very well when I had it forwarded. It was due to arrive just a day after we left Palm Springs. It worked out okay as we still have some credits at a casino there to use up, and since it is Thursday we will stop at another casino on the way home to have the seafood dinner.

This next couple of weeks, we will probably hang close to the park. I want to take advantage of the pickleball courts as much as possible. The next place we go to does not have them. We also want to enjoy the heated pool and hot tubs.

Since being out west I have seen some great dirt roads that I would love to be able to explore. Unfortunately we do not have a Jeep or off road vehicle. I think I may have come across a great solution to get way back into the mountains. I think I found our next rig combination.

Never heard of pickleball and had to look it up. It sounds like great exercise and a lot of fun.

Love the rig in your last picture. What a hoot!

Looks like you really had a great time in Palm Springs. Mike & I tried to get reservations at Wilderness Lakes for 3/12-3/20 but couldn't (probably because of spring break). So, we'll head from Pio Pico to Soledad Canyon..
