McKinney Falls State Park-Austin Tx

Monday we left the Thousand Trails park at Lake Medina and drove the 150 miles or so to McKinney Falls State Park in Austin. It looks like it is a pretty nice park with a paved bike trail that runs around it. My only gripe is that on top of camping fees or now as they call it “Facility Fees” they also charge $6.00 a person per day entrance fee on top of the other fees. Most State Parks will charge a daily entry fee per vehicle on top of the camping fees. I guess the states need to make money, but it irks me.

The camp spots are a little small and most are tree covered. We did find a deep back in site where I can get the Satellite to hook up. We do have 50 amp and water.

We are only here for two days so we checked out the falls and road the bike trail as soon as we got here.

The upper falls did not have as much water coming over

We then took the 3 mile bike trail around the park. It was a pretty good work out up and down the hills. But it was a very pretty trail.

After we got back we settled in for the night and watched some Monday Night Football. Today (Tuesday) Max has her Dr. appointment to see about her knees. Hopefully she is a good candidate and can get some relief.

We got up early 5:00am to head out for my birthday breakfast at IHOP. Then after her appointment we will check out a little bit of Austin.

Enjoy Your Day!

Hey, happy birthday! That looks like a pleasant enough park. Nice bike trails.

If you are going to stay in Texas for a while, you might buy a TX state parks pass. You get to waive the $6 and get three free nights camping. Hope the appointment goes well for Max.
