Pin Cushion and Moving Day

This last Tuesday Max had her Dr. appointment. The doctor spent a good thirty to forty five minutes with us just examining her knees and what pain management strategies would probably work best. He made her feel comfortable and ready to get the process started.

The procedure is called Prolotherapy with Ozone. It is a combination of things that help the ligaments and cartilage strengthen and alleviates pain . The bad news is that it will take about 25 injections into each knee each visit. She will need to come back about every three weeks for more treatments. This procedure may take 3 or 4 sessions to complete, it just depends on how fast Max responds to it.

She handled the 50 injections like a champ, Her knees will be squishy for a few days and she sounds like she has water balloons on each leg when she walks. This will diminish as the medicine absorbs. After one day I think she feels better and she says her range of motion has improved.  Her next appointment will be in three weeks.

Since she will be going to Austin every three weeks for awhile we will stay fairly close in either San Antonio or Columbus and just stay in Austin for two days each time she has an appointment. This way we can still stay in the Thousand Trails system and save the camping fees.

Wednesday we moved 80 miles to Columbus and are staying at the Colorado River Thousand Trails. It is a large park along the Colorado River with your choice of 30 or 50 amp sites. It does cost $3.00 a day for the 50 amp but is worth it when it is hot and you need both a/c’s.

We chose a nice spot overlooking the fields where the deer play.

This nice buck was running around behind us chasing off the smaller bucks.

After getting set up we headed to the pool and hot tub and spent the afternoon relaxing. Then later that evening I sat outside under the awning watching the deer while Max did some internet shopping. We will be here for the next three weeks then head back to Austin to repeat Max’s pin cushion imitation.

Enjoy Your Day!

I know some people who are afraid just to get a flu shot! Hats off to Max!! Glad to hear she's already noticing some improvement.

Wow! I really hope these give Max some relief. Our fingers are crossed for her. We will be in the hill country for a few weeks starting Sunday. Maybe we can hook up on a day trip.

Ouch! I can take a needle to donate blood but I don't think I could do 50. Good luck Max! I hope this works for you.
