Laptop Survived!!!

Yea!!!   My replacement keyboard came on Monday. Replacing it was pretty straight forward except for the ziff clip that holds down the keyboard ribbon to the connector was a real pain in the (*).  Between Max and I we were finally able to get it back together. The PC booted up fine and everything seems to be working okay. I think I will take some time today to back up my hard drive……….

We finally broke out the oil heater to use at night. It is getting down to about 38 degrees and our heat pump will not work at those temps. The oil heater works well and keeps the rig fairly warm. If we supplement with another electric heater we can get it too warm so we keep it a little chilly and use the electric blanket.

When we first arrived up here back in April, our furnace would not stay on for more than 30 seconds or so. I do not think there is a problem with it, it just does not like 7000 feet and does not have the right amount of air for the sensors to be happy. When we get down to lower altitude I will check it again and make sure it works.

Our season is almost over, we have about another 4 weeks or so before they cut us loose. Our goal for working this year when we started was to put the money we spent on our solar back into the savings, and get some extra diesel money set back so we could travel a little faster. That being said we then decided to change the way we travel and sell the motorcycle and buy the Jeep. When we did this we knew we would have to work another year to put the Jeep money back into the savings as well.

This is taking two summers away from our traveling but at the end of the day we will be more flexible. We would rather commit these summers now rather than when we get older. Besides, we are in a very pretty area with lots of sunshine.

So for next season our district manager asked us if we wanted to become a “Swing Couple”….I looked at him and said thanks but no thanks we are happily married.. What he meant was that we would be like a Host/Maint couple that would fill in where needed and cover other couples on their days off and work on small maintenance projects at several campgrounds and group facilities on the mountain. They will provide a truck for us to drive to each site to work and we will still be based out of the Serrano campground where we are now. Max and I talked it over and decided we would try it. We do not think it will be any different type of work that we have not already done and it will give us a variety of people, places and things to encounter.

September was another milestone for us, we just wrapped up our 3rd year full timing and I can now visit all of the 55 and over parks. I guess that now makes me an old fart. But technically since I am still too young to draw Social Security I am not a senior citizen. That is my definition anyway.

That is all for now,

Enjoy Your Day!

Good to have a future plan :) It's gotten chilly here in PA as well. Nice afternoons, but starting out with frost warnings. Be good to start traveling south.

Catherine and Jo Beth, we are going to take the winter off and fly back to Indiana for Christmas and New Years. Then come back and finish the winter in southern Cal.
