Wonderful Thanksgiving & Visiting With Family

Last Wednesday, Max and I left Jojoba Hills at “O-Dark Thirty” in the morning, for our 5 hour drive to Phoenix. We wanted to stop for breakfast at the IHOP in Palm Desert, and Max wanted to leave plenty of time to stop at a Bead Store in Quartzsite.

The drive from Aquanga to Palm Desert is not bad taking the Palms to Canyon highway, but it is twisty and steep in places. I usually will avoid driving these types of roads in the dark, but figured the traffic would be very light. We only had a few cars so that made the trip over the mountain pretty pleasant. That’s code for no fingernail scratches on Max’s side of the vehicle Winking smile

We stopped at IHOP for breakfast then drove a few hours to Quartzsite where I dropped Max off at the Bead Store so she could shop for beads. I took the Jeep and scouted out where we were going to boondock at in January for the Quartzsite gathering. We are planning on trying to hook up where the Escapee Boomer group will be camping and will camp with them this year. We also plan on representing Jojoba Hills in the RV tent at the Escapees booth for a few hours as well.

After a few hours I picked Max back up and we headed on to Phoenix. We spent Thanksgiving weekend at Her sister Betty’s and had a really fun weekend. Saturday Max and Betty took their mom shopping at a craft fair while my Brother in-law Randy and I went for a Jeep trip.

We drove a couple of hours to the Harquahala mountain byway. It is a rocky bumpy fun road that takes you up to about 5600 feet with tremendous views.

We then found some open mines that were very interesting.

Obviously we did not go into them but they were pretty cool.

We made it back home shortly after dark and then we grilled some steaks on the grill and enjoyed the rest of the evening. Sunday was spent relaxing around the house. Betty and Randy and Max put up their Christmas tree while I watched some football.

This week we are staying at Max’s mothers house. She has a few projects that needs done and we plan on visiting some Rv dreamers that are in the area. Saturday we will fly out to Indiana and get some much needed grandkid time.

Enjoy Your Day!
