Americade Week

It has been a busy week and a very fun one except for all the rain. Sunday the hour ride from Albany to Lake George was in a downpour. We arrived at the Koa at about noon. Wet, cold, but ready to relax a little.

We got checked into our cabins and dried out a little. Here is Gary and Bev in front of their cabin.

Gary and Bev brought a little heater that could plug in and with the temps getting into the low 40’s Max and i decided to go to Wal-Mart and get one for our cabin. We found one for $9.00 on clearance.

On Sunday night we rode around the area to find out where things were so we would know where to go. We ate dinner at a nice Italian restaurant where I think I had the best Lasagna in my life. We mad it back to the cabins and went to bed. The heater that we bought did the trick and kept us nice and warm.

Monday

We got up to a sunny day and went to have breakfast and to stand in line at the Holiday Inn to get our registration packets. There was already a line waiting all the way around the building.

We got through the registration in about an hour and a half. Not too bad for such a long line. We did not have anything on the schedule until around 5.00 so we just got familiar where everything was.

At 5 we went and watched a demonstration on controlling your motorcycle. It was amazing how fast and sharp these guys can corner and take a 360 deg circle.

Tuesday we spent the day at the vendors looking at all the goodies. We came with four things we wanted to get. We were successful and actually stayed within what I had budgeted for. Here are a few pics from Tuesday

I di don't take any pictures at the vendor area because I had too many packages to carry. We had a boat dinner cruise around Lake George scheduled so we got ready and found where we had to park. There was live entertainment on board which was an Elvis impersonator. Bev is a big Elvis fan and was not too impressed with his looks but his voice was not bad.

It was a nice dinner cruise and we enjoyed it very much.

Wednesday we rode up to Lake Placid and Whiteface mountain. It was very pretty and could see the Olympic village from the top. After we parked we could have taken an elevator to the top but for some reason we walked. It was like going up 27 stories of steps. Whew!

Here are some pics from the top.

Overall our Americade trip was what I expected it to be . Crowded, commercial and expensive. We are not into all of the seminars and speakers that are part of a rally experience but are more into the area that the rally is held in. We enjoyed the Adirondacks and there is a lot that we still want to see, but will wait until we come through the area with the fifth wheel and we have more time. Now we are headed home and should get back either Friday or Saturday.
