Wright Patterson Air Force Museum

For the last couple of years we wanted to take the boy’s to the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum. Timing was never right, but on Monday their uncle Mike asked us if we wanted to take the boy’s. He was planning a trip with Cheryl and Emma and his sister in-law and her daughter for Wednesday.

We decided that this would be the perfect time. So we packed a picnic lunch and took the two and a half hour drive to Dayton Ohio. After a few wrong turns and missed signs we made it.

The museum is free, and is housed in three large hangers. It starts off in chronological order from the days of the Wright Bros. to current aviation. It is an amazing place even for those like me that does not know a lot about aviation. Looking back at the equipment our men and women used during WWI and WWII is just fascinating for me.

The boys seemed to have a good time, and they seemed to gravitate to all the guns and bombs on display instead of the actual aircraft.  Blake really liked all of the gun turrets or bubble’s in the WWII aircraft. I don’t blame him. I think every boy playing in his backyard has been in one of those bubbles shooting down the bad guys. Here are a few pic’s from the museum.

We had a good time at the museum and was exhausted by the time we got back to the car. We mad it home around 8.00 pm with very tired little boys.

We finished up the evening with a visit from Kent and Martha Fites. They are in our Goldwing group and  also RV in a Motor home. Our schedules for July would not allow us too visit before we leave on August 1st so they came out to the campground and we were able to visit for awhile. After hugs and best wishes they left to get ready for their own adventure coming up. We will miss them but we will be back next April to catch up.

Thursday will be another busy day. We will be taking the truck in to get the Tonneau cover installed. Then we will be working around the rig to get last minute things installed and or re-organized. Then Blake has a baseball game tonight.
