Show’s, Zip Lining and Rally Fun

Wow! This last week has been very busy. Between the rally seminars and offsite activities I have not had a chance to update the blog.

The rally started off on Tuesday with registration beginning at 2:00pm. Max and I volunteered to help with the check in process. This gave us an opportunity to meet people as they checked in.

We had a catered meal Tuesday night and then played some icebreaker games to help to get to know the other rally participants. It was fun and got everyone comfortable with each other.

Wednesday and Thursday were full days of seminars covering different topics of fultime rving. The emotional aspects, choosing and buying an RV, Cost of fultiming etc..

The seminars are geared towards those that may or may not have made the decision to fultime. It is pretty basic but also has tidbits of info for those that have already made the leap.

We have met several couples that are doing a lot of investigation and came to the rally to learn more about it. It is really fun to see their enthusiasm and tried to answer as many questions as we could. We hope to see them on the road soon!

Wednesday we had a chili cook off. I had a killer recipe from a buddy of mine but since I was a judge I could not enter into the competition. But I sacrificed winning in order to sample and judge all of the other chili. Hey! Some one had to do it!

After the cook off it was RV gadget show and tell. People would show and tell about some accessory they had. There were some interesting items shared.

Thursday we spent the day attending more seminars and then had our pot luck dinner. After dinner we played Family Feud. The group was broken up into 12, 14 person teams and played an RV version of the game. It was really fun and competitive. Maxine was on the winning team.

Friday was a free day set aside for everyone to go do whatever they wanted to in the area. We chose to go Zip Lining with about 20 people.

We normally would not have done something like this but the price was right. With 20 people we were able to get the price down to $30.00 a person. They were regularly about $60.00 or so .

It was a lot of fun! There were about 5 or 6 sections that varied in  height and lengths. They even got us to go upside down.

Here are a few pics of Max

Now, the bad part was when we went tandem down one section. I did a stupid thing and did not get my legs up enough coming into the landing platform and hit my foot on the wooden ramp causing me to twist my ankle. I do not think I broke anything but I am not sure. Right now it is swollen and bruised and I have it propped up with ice on it. Hopefully it is just sprained.

Friday night the rally attendees were treated to a private show at the Majestic Theater in Pigeon Forge for a nice low cost of $5.00 a person. This show was about 2 and a half hours of singing and dancing from music from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. It was one of the best show’s I think we have seen in places like Pigeon Forge, Branson, etc…

Saturday we had more seminars on boondocking, solar and choosing campgrounds. We then had an RV open house where several attendees opened their rigs for tours. I did not feel like hobbling around to all of the rigs so I stayed put and Max went to look at some of them.

Saturday night was the themed 70’s party with a DJ. We also had a catered chicken and rib dinner. Maxine got to get her dance on and after a bottle of wine and a few shots of liquid pain killer I joined in for a few songs.

Sunday we had a catered farewell breakfast. We then got to say goodbye to all of the people we have met with plans to meet “Down the Road:

This was our first rally and we will definitely go to another RV-Dreams rally. Howard and Linda Payne has really created quite a following. There is no way to describe the atmosphere, it was just amazing.

Now our plan is to head to Indiana on Monday. We will be at the Thousand Trails resort in Batesville until May 1st. Then we will be back in Huntington at Timberlake for the month of May.

We plan on spending the next two weeks just recuperating. I know my ankle needs it.

Enjoy Your Day!

I'm so happy you liked the rally. We've been to two of them and hated missing this one. It will be great seeing you down the road, hopefully soon.
