Holiday Weekend Visits

kids

This past weekend we had some friends from our motorcycle club from Huntington Indiana ride down to spend the day with us. They arrived around 1:00 pm Saturday.

It was starting to get pretty hot out so we quickly found some shade under the canopy.

At the table are Max and Sue Piper and sitting in the camp chairs are Martha and Kent Fites along with Maxine.

We visited for awhile and then went across the campground to our other club members, Ralph and Rose Matchett who have a permanent spot here.

Ralph and Rose did not know that everyone was coming down this weekend and when we pulled up we found Rose lying in the hammock in the shade. She knows how to relax!

We visited for awhile under the huge shade trees and invited Ralph and Rose and their grand daughter Ingrid to come to dinner with us. We were planning on riding to the Montgomery Inn in Cincinnati for some BBQ. They agreed and led the way in their suburban while we followed on the motorcycles.

There are 4 locations in the Cincinnati area for the Montgomery Inn. We chose the one in Ft. Mitchell Ky.

They had a special going on for all you can eat ribs. Okay, count me in!

Several of us got the all you can eat ribs, while others got the pulled pork dinner. Either way it was pretty good and all that was left was the bones.

Now I am not implying that the pile of bones Martha is holding was hers, but they WERE all at her end of the table! Just sayin!

Actually, I think Kent and Max Piper had done some considerable damage to the local beef prices. I know I did.

For desert Maxine and I shared a slice of cheesecake.

After dinner we rode the hour back to the campground and it was getting close to 10:00pm.

Kent and Martha, Max and Sue decided to call it a night and head back to the hotel they were staying at. So with hugs we said goodbye and wished them well on their ride back to Huntington on Sunday. We will be seeing them in August when we return to Huntington.

Ralph and Rose started a campfire and we sat out and enjoyed some wine and conversation with them until past midnight.  It was a very enjoyable day and evening visiting with friends.

Sunday Maxine and I spent most of the day in the rig out of the heat. We started working on our long range plans and schedule for next winter. We want to try to be in Quartzsite Az. for January.

This would entail boondocking for the whole month. We have not boondocked for that long before but feel like we are up for the challenge. It will be interesting to say the least.

This week I want to check out a possible kayak float trip down the Whitewater river. We are thinking maybe Wednesday weather permitting.

Hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July!

Enjoy Your Day!
