New Grandson Has Arrived

We had an uneventful flight from San Francisco, and the flight took about 4 hours. Mike and Cheryl picked us up at the airport and we had about a 3 hour drive back to their house. We did have to make one stop for Cheryl on the way back. She wanted some candy to have while she is in the hospital. We stopped at the Albanese Candy Factory.

They make all kinds of sweet treats. At the time we were there they were making Gummy Bears. I could not take pictures inside the factory but I could the store. Some how I restrained myself and did not buy anything.

We made it to the house around 8:00pm. We visited for awhile but Cheryl had to be at the hospital at 5:30 am so we called it a night.

On Wednesday morning Ethan David English was born. 8lbs 9 oz 20 inches long.

Emma meeting her new brother, too cute!

After spending some time visiting we left the hospital so they could have some family time. We went back to the house and watched a movie.

Mike is an air traffic controller and a private pilot and flight instructor. So they made up the nursery with an aviation theme. The crib I made for them when Emma was born.

I really like the airplane rocker, the prop will spin and light up.

Thursday we drove down to Camp Atterbury with our other daughter in-law Beth to see our son David. He is getting some training from the military and then fly’s over to Afghanistan on Friday. We did not want to miss seeing him so we drove down to have dinner on his last night here. He is a Software Engineer for General Dynamics and is rolling out a project he has been working on for the soldiers. He will be over there from 2 to 6 months. We are not crazy that he is going over there but he will be on the airbase most of the time.

We picked him up at the base and decided to go to Applebee’s for dinner. We had a good time and enjoyed a few hours of conversation before we had to say our goodbyes.

We made it back to Mikes house close to midnight and went straight to bed. Friday we had dental appointments and then visited Cheryl and Ethan at the hospital. They are coming home on Saturday afternoon, and I am sure they are ready to get home. Hospitals are not a lot of fun regardless of the occasion.

My goal over the next few days is to get Emma to open up to me. Maxine has already gotten hugs and Emma will let her pick her up. I can only get a hug if I bribe her! Grandpa has some work to do to win her over. Smile

Enjoy Your Day!

Congrats on the new grandson. Love the theme of the nursery. My brother is also over in Afganistan for 6 months. Just left about 4 weeks ago. He also never has to leave base.
