Texas Bound

Since last Tuesday we have been so busy that I have not had time to blog. Tuesday we had to give goodbye kisses and hugs to the kids and grandkids. We absolutely hate these moments and it makes us question our decisions every time.

We left Roanoke Indiana at about 8:00am and drove the three hours to Chicago. Our flight was at 1:30 and we wanted to get there early to avoid the “Panic”. Our flight left on time and we landed in San Francisco at 4:30 Pacific Time. We made our way to the Bart station and rode the subway to San Bruno where the motorcycle was parked. We then had a two and a half hour motorcycle ride to where our rig was stored. Okay it was three and a half, we stopped at Famous Dave’s in Gilroy for dinner. Ribs, nuff said!

It was well after 10:00pm by the time we got the rig set up. We did not hook everything up since we were leaving for Phoenix the next day. We were whipped puppies! We are headed to Phoenix to drop the motorcycle off at Maxine’s mom’s house as we make our way to Texas.

In the first paragraph I mentioned questioning our decisions. In this heat I am starting to question our sanity! Leaving a comfortable 75 degrees on the California coast for 110 degree heat to guard a gate in Texas is a little insane. When Max and I make up our minds to do something we go all in for sure. We will be in Boerne Texas next Thursday and hopefully getting our certification paperwork done the following week. In Texas all security guards must be certified by the state. Hopefully we will have a gate assignment by Sept 1st.

Our original plan was to work for about three months to get some extra spending money for next year. Now we want to make enough to buy a good used pickup camper to use for Alaska either next summer or the one after. We will sell it when we are done with it. We do not want to take our 5th wheel up there and figured we could get into a lot more nature with a smaller truck camper.

Now, that is our plan for the next 6 to 9 months. This will give me plenty of time to research Alaska and figure out the logistics of storing the 5th wheel again and adding a truck camper.

So this weekend we are getting Items we need and getting the motorcycle ready for storage. Visiting Max’s mom and sister and eating at our favorite Mexican restaurant Ajo Al’s Smile

Next week we will be eating us some Tex-Mex!

Enjoy Your Day!

Be anxious to read about your gate guarding experience. We have thought about doing that sometime.
