Friends, Family and Changes

Wow! It has been so long since I have updated the blog. So much has been happening we can barely keep up with what we have to do each day.

When we returned from visiting Steve and Joan (Rv-Dreamers)  at Lake Meade we found out that we had some other  RV-Dreamers that we met back in Tennessee as well staying here at Jojoba Hills. The last time we saw them was a year ago at the RV-Dreams Boondocking Rally in Quartzsite.

Gary and Leesa Palmer have been fulltime for several years and are staying here at the park for a few days getting ready to start their next work camping opportunity.  We had a chance to go to dinner with them a few times and get caught up on their travels.

They travel with a Phaeton motorhome and flat tow a Jeep. In fact, it was because I was able to ride in their Jeep last year, that put the Jeep bug into me. It was good seeing them again, and we wish them safe travels and good luck with their new opportunity this summer. We will see you guys “Down The Road”

In the last week a lot has happened. We needed to go to Phoenix to help paint Max’s mothers house. On the way we stopped at Quartzite so Max could get a few bead items she needed.

After her purchases we stopped at a RV dealer to look at used motorhomes. We have been kicking around the idea of getting a “Travel Rig”. Our Mobile Suites fifth wheel is our home for sure, but we really want to protect it from all the wear and tear from traveling day to day. Here at Jojoba hills they provide a large gated storage area where members can park 2nd RV’s or boats for free.

The more we thought about the idea of being able to leave the Mobile Suites parked on our lot full time and then travel in another RV made since… to us anyway! Currently when we travel, I pull the 5th wheel and Max will drive the Jeep. By getting a motorhome we could travel together and flat tow the Jeep, this will also save us some gas money as well. For the most part we will always be wintering here at Jojoba, and then we could travel in the spring, summer and fall with the motorhome.

So with all this in mind, and with a limited budget, we found an older motorhome that has what we need. To be sure we are spoiled with our Mobile Suites being that it has a washer and dryer and a dishwasher. The motorhome does not have any of that, but it will make up for it by allowing us to travel together and to be able to fit into smaller RV spaces that are found in most of the national parks.

Here are a few pictures of our new addition.

It has a few items that I need to work on a little but the price was right. The dealer was in the process of moving all of the motorhomes on his lot in Quartzsite back to his lot in Sacramento Ca. He made us a pretty good deal so he would not have to move it.

So after our stop over in Quartzsite we finally made it to Phoenix to paint mom’s house. We had a full crew of 5 people on Saturday and 4 of us on Sunday and we were able to get a lot of it done. Max and I were able to finish it all up by Tuesday.

We left Phoenix on Wednesday and stopped in Quartzsite to pick up the motorhome. We made it back to Aguanga and Jojoba Hills around 9:00 pm.  We were exhausted. The last several day’s we have been getting appointments made to get the tow bars installed on the Jeep, spending a gazillion dollars at Walmart and Camping World getting the motorhome outfitted with basic things.

We have a few weeks left here at Jojoba before we head up to Big Bear for the summer. Time is going fast and we will be back to work before we know it. Good thing too!

Enjoy Your Day!

Motorhome looks nice guys! Congrats!
I'm not sure about Jeeps but I put the tow bar (Blue Ox) on our Dakota myself and it wasn't too hard. Saved a couple of bucks and I knew the thing was going to stay attached!
